One of Our Own. NBA Champion.

There are places that shape you. For Miles "Deuce" McBride, West Virginia was that place.

Under Coach Bob Huggins, McBride became one of the most exciting guards WVU fans had seen in years. Sharp shooter, lockdown defender, and the kind of player who showed up when the game was on the line. The Coliseum loved him for it.

His sophomore season in 2020-21 told the whole story. Averaging 15.9 points, 4.1 assists, and 1.8 steals per game, he earned All-Big 12 honors and led the Mountaineers deep into the NCAA Tournament. Every night he stepped on the floor, you knew he was playing for something bigger than himself.

The next chapter took him to New York, where the same toughness, discipline, and work ethic that made him a fan favorite in Morgantown continued to define his career.

Then came June 2026.

The New York Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, capturing the franchise's first championship since 1973. Miles McBride was part of the team that brought the Larry O'Brien Trophy back to New York.

From the hills of Morgantown to the bright lights of Madison Square Garden, Deuce never forgot where he came from. And West Virginia never forgot him.

That is what this community is built on. That is what Best Virginia exists to celebrate.

Once a Mountaineer, always a Mountaineer.
