John Flowers
Known for his moves on the dance floor, Flowers will also be known for his hard play during his years at West Virginia (2007-11). When Flowers was a senior in high school at St. Mary’s Ryken in Leonardtown, Maryland, he committed to WVU when John Beilein was the head coach. Beilein ended up leaving West Virginia months later and taking the job at Michigan, leading WVU to bring in Bob Huggins. Flowers honored his commitment to Huggins and West Virginia.
As a Mountaineer, Flowers was a part of four-straight NCAA Tournament appearances, making the Sweet 16 his freshman year and the Final Four in his junior year. During his time at West Virginia, Flowers won 101 games as a Mountaineer. As a senior, Flowers worked his way into the starting lineup, doubling his minutes from previous years. Flowers took advantage of the opportunity, and then some. Flowers averaged 9.2 points, 6.2 rebounds on 47% shooting from the field in his final season at WVU. Flowers finished his career at West Virginia fifth in program history in blocks (157).
After finishing out his colligate career, Flowers has played international basketball since 2011. The 6-foot-7 forward has played in Japan, France, Germany, Venezuela and Mexico.
As of 2020, Flowers is playing in France for Boulazac.
